READY TO REEL 'EM IN?
It has been a well kept secret for many years, but the Emerald Coast is an amazing place to saltwater fly fish. Nearshore habitats, that include expansive sand flats, embayments, seagrasses, near-shore troughs, and hard structure, provide opportunities for migratory Tarpon, Cobia, King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel, Tuna, Amberjack, Crevalle Jack, Sailfish, Barracuda, Pompano, Red Drum, Seatrout, Flounder, and others. If it is a fish, there are proven techniques for taking them on an artificial fly pattern.

There are many miles of uninhabited shoreline and National Seashore available for sight fishing with fly rods here on the Florida Panhandle. Just outside the second sandbar, thousands of Tarpon follow a migratory run along our beaches each year beginning in the spring. Bull Red Drum also run the beaches and move into Choctawhatchee Bay and West Bay in the fall. Access to big sportfish offshore is available almost year round given our close proximity to the 100 fathom curve in the Gulf of Mexico. Our physical location to deep blue water has made Destin Florida the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” since the 19th Century. Quick access to deep blue water environments, a healthy environment, and warmer water temperatures, provide outstanding fishing!
